INTRODUCTION
Leather industry in India is a growing sector. The leather industries are mainly in private sector. Leather technologists are trained in treatment of animal skin and are involved in advising and supervising the process of raw hide. They are also involved in research, quality control, marketing and sales.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
Scientific temperaments, problem solving skills, application of theory in the practice are the traits required. Good physical strength and free from eye disorder especially colour blindness are .

JOB OPPORTUNITIES
Leather technologist's gets job in private sector firms, export houses and govt. organizations. They can find job in manufacturing industries involved in footwear, leather garments and leather products. The jobs are highly payable both in terms of money and status.

Leather technology is offered as a four year B.Tech. course. Some Institutes also offer Diploma after +2/ Graduation.
