PARA MILITARY SERVICES
Paramilitary Services have been constituted to maintain internal
security and to support defence in guarding our border. There
services come under purview of central government and have a well
defined role of action. These services constitute
Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)
Border Security Force (BSF)
Indo Tibetan Border Force (ITBP)
Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)
Coastguards
Railway Protection Force (RPF)
Homeguards
1. CRPF: Its role is to maintain internal security and enforcement
of law and order. They also provide relief and rescue services
to people during natural calamities or any major accident.
Hierarchy: DG-IG-DIG- Commandants - Dy. Comm. - Astt. Comm.
Entry/ Training: Recruited through Selection Board of Central
Police Organisation(CPO).
Eligibility: Graduates of any stream with 50% are eligible
for gazetted posts while for posts of constable non graduates
can also apply.
Age limit: 19 - 25 year.
Selection: Written Test followed by interview and medical
fitness test.
Training: At Neemuch MP
CRPF officers are also given chance to work with NSG, SPG.
2. BSF:
It was constituted in 1965 The basic function in to keep vigil
on our borders to prevent infiltration, terrorism and smuggling
activities. They provide intelligence reports from borders ensure
the safety of prominent installations and people living near border
area. They also assist the police forces during Riots, Natural
calamities.
They have 3operational arms: General Duty Branch, Technical Branch,
Medical Branch.
Entry/Training: Constable/Sub Inspector : Through SSC of BSF
Age limit: 20-25 years for SI
: 18-22 for constable
Astt Commandants: SSC of CPO.
Age limit: 19 - 25 years
Special preference to NCC A, B, C, Certificate holders
Training: At Tekanpur, MP
ITBP
This force patrols the Himalayan ranges which borders India and
China.
Selection: Constable/SI - Through test conducted by selection
board.
Training: Mussorie and Chandigarh.
CISF
They provide security to industrial establishments: They provide
safety to PSU'S
Entry: SI/Astt.Commandant: Selection test
Eligibility: graduates
Training: Hyderabad
