The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi conduct All India Entrance Examination for admission to 15% seats in Medical/Dental colleges in India run by Government/Municipal/Local authorities except States of Andhra Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.

Eligibility Indian nationals. Age 17 yrs on December 31 of the year of admission. Academic qualification 12 yrs Sr Sec exam with 50% (40% for SC/ST) aggregate marks in Eng, Phy, Chem, and Biol taken together or BSc with any two subjects Phy, Chem, Biol (Bot & Zool) with 50% marks and Phy, Chem, Biol and Eng passed at senior secondary. Candidates who have appeared in the qualifying exam are also eligible. Candidates should be medically fit.

Application procedure Application form and Bulletin of Information can be obtained on cash payment of Rs 200 including exam fee (Rs 100 for SC/ST) from the notified branches of Canara Bank or CBSE Regional Offices at (i) Todar Mal Marg, Ajmer 305001; (ii) Neem Sarai (Transport Nagar), Allahabad 211001: (iii) State Institute of Education Building Sector 32, Chandigarh 160031; (iv) Rajgarh Road, Rajgarh Tinali, Guwahati 781003 (v) Plot No 1630

The form can also be obtained BY POST from the All India Pre-Medical/Pre Dental Entrance Examination Unit, CBSE, 17B, Indraprastha Estate, New Delhi 110 002 by remitting bank draft of Rs 200 (Rs 100 for SC/ST) alongwith a self addressed envelope of 12"*10". Completed application should reach the CBSE by registered post by the notified date.

Entrance Exam consist of one paper in Phy, Chem and Biol (Bot & Zool) (combined) of 2.5 hours duration and carries 800 marks. The questions are of objective type with negative marks for incorrect response. The syllabus for the entrance exam is given in the bulletin of information. Medium Hindi/English. Centres: Agartala, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Calcutta, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Imphal, Itanagar, Jaipur Luncknow, Mumbai, Nagpur Port Blair, Patna, Panaji, Pondicherry, Shimla, Shillong and Thiruvanthapuram.

Result the CBSE conduct the exam, evaluate the answer scripts, prepare the merit/waiting list and notify the result in leading newspapers. A copy of the merit/waiting list of candidates is forwarded to the Director General of Health Services who allocate the seats at medical/dental colleges. In case of tie, inter-se merit is determined on marks in Zool/Bot/Chem/Phy.
