GEOLOGISTS EXAMINATION Candidates selected for appointment
to the Geological Survey of India are appointed on probation for
two years. During this period, the candidates may be instructed
to undergo training and pass examination or tests prescribed by
the competent authority.
The officers of Geological Survey of India can be posted in any part of India or abroad. Candidates selected for appointment in the Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) are also appointed on probation for 2 years. However, no training is administered and candidates do not have to pass any examination or test. Employees of CGWB may be posted anywhere in India or outside India. Qualifications Master's degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology or Diploma of Associate ship in Applied Geology of Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad or Master's degree in Mineral Exploration or Master's degree in Hydrogeology. Age 21-30 years but below 30 years on January 1 of the year of examination. Relax able for SC/ST, Ex-Servicemen, etc. Pay Scales: Geological Survey of India Asst. Geologist/Hydrogeologist Rs. 6,500 - 10,500 Junior Geologist/Hydrogeologist Rs. 8,000 - 13,500 Senior Geologist/Hydrogeologist Rs. 10,000 - 15,200 Director (Geology/Hydrogeology) Rs. 14,300 - 18,300 Dy Director General (Geology)/Chief Hydrogeologist Rs. 18,400 - 22,400 Senior Dy Director General (Operations)/ Director General Rs. 22,400 - 24,500 Subjects for Examination · General English · Geology Paper I · Geology Paper II · Geology Paper III · Hydrogeology. The written examination is followed by a Personality Test for the successful candidates.
