Indian
Institutes of Management (6)
National level management institutes have been set up by the Government
of India at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kozhikode (Calicut)
and Lucknow. The Institutes’ aim is to help improve the management
of corporate and non-corporate sectors and public systems through
pursuit of excellence in management education. Research, constancy
and training.

Following programmes are conducted by IIMs:
1.
P G Programme in Management (PGP) at all the Institutes;
2.
Fellow Programme in management (FPM) (Doctoral Level) at Ahmedabad,
Bangalore and Calcutta.
Admission
The IIMs hold an All India Common Admission Test (CAT) for admission
to Post Graduate programme in Management (PGP).
TEST CENTRES: Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Calcutta,
Chadigarh, Kochi, Guwahati, Hyderbad, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Lucknow,
Chennai, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Pune, Tiruchirappalli,
Vijayawada.

Eligibility
For IIM Ahmedabad PGP (General) Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
in any discipline. PGP (SPA-Specialization Package in Agriculture)
Either (i) Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Agriculture or Horticulture,
or (ii) Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with clearly demonstrated
interest and understanding of agriculture, rural development and
allied fields, preferably with relevant work experience. For IIMs
Bangalore, Calcutta and Lucknow Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
in any discipline with 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST candidates)
and 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST) in any of the Secondary/Higher
Secondary Exams. For IIMs Indore and Kozhikode (Calicut) Bachelor’s
degree ( or equivalent) in any discipline. Candidates appearing
in the final exams for the Bachelor’s degree can also apply. Such
candidates are required to produce evidence of having satisfied
the minimum eligibility requirements by the prescribed dates.
Application
Procedure The CAT bulletin containing details of the programmes,
CAT application form can be obtained from the notified branches
of State Bank of India on cash payment Rs. 800 (Rs. 400 for SC/ST
candidates). CAT bulletin and application from can be obtained by
post under exceptional case from the Executive Assistant (Admissions),
Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, Joka, Diamond Harbour
Road, 24 Parganas (South) 743512 or as notified through bank draft
of Rs. 850 (Rs. 425 for SC/ST candidates) drawn in favour of IIM
Calcutta. Completed application indicating the centre choice should
reach the IIM controlling the centre as indicated in the bulletin,
by the notified date.
Selection
Common Admission Test (CAT) consists of questions in areas such
as quantitative reasoning, verbal skills, comprehension of ideas
and English language. Sample questions are given in the bulletin.
Final selection is based on candidates’ academic record, work experience,
performance in CAT, group discussion and interview.
