Library
The Institute has an up-to-date Library housed in a separate newly extended
building with total area of about 70,000 Sq.Ft. The seating capacity is
about 800 i.e., 1/3 of the total strength can be accommodated at a time.
Library has got Technical books, Periodicals, Video-films, Indian Standards
and general magazines and other publications and is open to the staff and
regular students of the Institute and to others with the written permission
from the Principal. The Library consists of the following sections:

Lending
Section
Lending section is located in the ground floor of New Library Extension
Building. All books are stacked in the ground floor. The Technical books
are made available for home reading to the staff and regular students
of the Institute from this section. About one lakh books can be stacked
in this section and seating arrangement nearly 50-60 students has been
made. At a time two books will be issued to each student against his or
her Library Tickets during the week days by filling up in the prescribed
borrower's slip and presenting it to the library staff in the circulation
counter and on the production of identity card.
Reference Section
The reference sources like encyclopaedias, hand books, dictionaries and
general reference tools are kept for reference along with the main stack
in the ground floor of the new library extension building.
Periodicals Section
The Periodicals Section is located in the two Mezzanine floors of the
ground floor of New Library Extension Building. It provides seating arrangement
for about 50 students at a time. The Institute Library subscribes for
383 journals (both Indian and Foreign). Latest issues of each of the periodicals
are displayed on the display rack. The loose issues of periodicals and
bound volumes are issued to, students and staff for reference only but
not for home reading.
Text Book Section
In order to enable students to study inside the Library, a Text Book Section
is separately maintained and is located in the Ist floor of the New Library
building. Arrangement for about 700 students has been made including the
2nd floor of New Library Extension Building and l st, 2nd and 3rd floor
of the old building. This section maintains important and prescribed text
books in multiple copies useful for day to day class work for reference.
The books from this section are not lent out. The Indian Standards are
also maintained in this section for reference purpose.
Audio-Visual Section
As an aid to learning, the Library has Educational Video-films on the
topics related to Engineering and Technology with required equipments
for the Library user. Information Centre In order to provide the users,
information about the available library resources has the database developed
using CDS/ISIS software. The library has the plan to computerize other
library activities also. This centre has 'COMPENDEX PLUS'CD ROM (Compact
disc read only memory) Data Base which covers nearly 4500 journals, reports,
conference proceedings etc. published all over the world related to Science,
Engineering and Technology. This gives full bibliographic information
along with the abstract of the source indexed in the
Photocopying Section
It
covers 40 disciplines in Engineering and Technology
Two photocopying machines are installed in the photocopying section at
the right side of the ground floor of the Library. Both the staff and
students can make use of the photocopying facility against payment.

The library
subscribes to 13 leading news papers published in India to have current
knowledge of regional and national events. In addition to this, library
publishes a quarterly library publication "New Additions to MIT Central
Library". This gives the information about the new books, journals and
video films purchased by different departments and subject-wise addition
of books. This also provides a subject index for fast and easy location
of the required information.

"National Cadet Corps" is a premier youth organisation which plays a leading
role in channelising the energies of the youth for Nation building activities.
It helps the students to exhibit and develop the leadership qualities
and helps to develop comradeship and spirit of adventure.
It also helps the students to have an insight into our Defence Organisation
and helps them to be easily recruited into our Defence Service. Most of
the Government as well as Private Limited Firms have agreed to give preference
for candidates having N.C.C. 'C' Certificates.
In our Institution we have a Company under the name 4 KAR. ENGR. COY N.C.C.
having the sanctioned strength of 150 cadets.
